Don Lifted has cultivated a sound of his own, fusing indie-style guitar, hip-hop-leaning electronics and gothically-delivered vocals, using atmospheric production that distills influences from artists such as Radiohead and Bon Iver. We first became enthusiast about his music when we heard the murky emo rap track 'Brain Fluid', a song that closes with the most touching words, 'I feel losing my self, my sense of self and my identity...I'd really like to showcase my full self and not everyone that loves you is able to see you as your full self, and so that's always something that I'm conscious of...is making sure I'm a whole person and a person that I'm loving'. Signed to Pat Possum, this year Don Lifted released a new album 325i, a collection of 10 seamless songs that delve into deepest, and sometimes hardest emotional places. The opening track on the record, 'Golden (The Wait)', sees meditative guitar lines from MadameFraankie overlap, accompanied by the mantra 'just wait'. Throughout the record, Don-Lifted's emotionally vulnerable vocals glow with honesty and openness, revealing something very beautifully human.
